Sciatica

Sciatica is a pain that can impact the back, hip and the leg. It is caused by compression of a spinal nerve root (the sciatic nerve) that can be pinched anywhere from the back all the way to the leg.

Recovering from sciatic pain can be difficult and it is very important that the cause of the problem is found. At Action Physiotherapy in Brampton we do just that and provide you with individualized treatment to help fix the cause of your sciatic pain.  Remember Sciatica is an umbrella term that just refers to a pinch in the sciatic nerve.  Finding the root of the problem is the upmost importance in a speedy recovery.

Physiotherapy is an effective treatment as it combines a combination of strengthening, stretching, manual therapy, education and activity modification.

Patients who take physiotherapy combined with a prescribed program of gentle exercise recover faster and more completely than those who try to mask the pain with medication. They are also less likely to incur further episodes of pain.
